The Campaigns

Pregnancy and birth

Birth lays the foundation of family life and marks the beginning of the parent-child relationship. We know a straightforward birth provides a good start for mother and baby. It makes skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding easier and it reduces the need for special care and early separation from the mother. Many women want to give birth actively with a minimum of intervention and they need support to do so. We campaign to ensure women have access to the choice of place of birth best for them

Early parenthood

The NCT aims for all parents to have a positive start to family life.We want all women and men to feel prepared and supported to become confident and caring parents. NCT campaigns to make sure that all parents have to oppurtunity to give the best start to thier child. We campaign especially with the End Child Poverty campaign to eliminate childhood inequality.

Babyfeeding

The NCT supports and campaigns for all parents regardless of how they choose to feed their babies. We realise that parents are put under pressure both in the UK and abroad by the formula advertising industry. We are a member of the Breastfeeding Manifesto Coalition and work to ensure all mothers can breastfeed if they choose to do so.

Power to the Parents!

NCT has been fighting for and winning change for parents for over 50 years.

We have campaigned on and delivered change for fathers by lobbying to allow them in the room during childbirth.

We have campaigned on and delivered change for mothers by providing choice in place of birth.

We have campaigned on and delivered change for parents by lobbying for user involvement at every hospital.

If you can spare anything from five minutes to one day a month then you can help make change for parents.

Choose the actions that are right for you. Sign a petition, sit on a committee or organise a media stunt. There is no one way to campaign. NCT Active is our campaigners network which you can access by joining below.
