Breastfeeding Support

Conwy Breastfeeding Friends - Peer Support Group

Peer supporters are parents like you, who have undergone specialist volunteer training, to provide you with an understanding ear, practical support and information relating to breastfeeding.

The volunteer team of local mothers will also link in with existing activities provided by local health practitioners and we have been working hard to set up collaborative working links with other peer support groups in North Wales.

Please contact the peer co-ordinators Cara or Lucy for more details.

**Update June 2011**

We are delighted to announce that we have a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor - Amy de Silva - in the branch who can offer mother to mother breastfeeding support over the telephone to both NCT members and non-members.

You can contact Amy on telephone number (01286) 876 538. (Amy is a volunteer working from home with a young family. She will do her best to support you but cannot always be available. Please bear this in mind when contacting her). Remember you can also contact our new Peer Supporters or the NCT Breastfeeding Support line on 0300 330 0771 if you can’t get through straight away.

Many of the branch members who have breastfed would be only too happy to offer support and advice to anyone who needs it. By going along to an Open House or other events in the Calendar, you not only get to socialise but will also find a wealth of parenting knowledge from the other members you meet. In the meantime, we have put together a few useful resources that will point you in the right direction to get the help you need.

We have also included links to Bottle Feeding resources for parents who need some support with this. Again, your health visitor would be your best first contact for advice, but during the times you can't contact them we hope the links will help.
