Conwy Breastfeeding Friends
**Conwy Breastfeeding Friends - Peer Support Group**
Peer supporters are parents, who have undertaken specialist volunteer training, to provide you with an understanding ear, practical support and information relating to breastfeeding.
"The role of a peer supporter is to walk the path with the mother ...... and hold her hand"
If you would like to chat to a peer supporter about breastfeeding, you can contact us in a few different ways -
By Phone at 07532318377 - Please leave a message if you can't get through and we will get back to you shortly :)
By Email: Cara or Lucy or via conwybreastfeedingfriends@gmail.com
On Facebook: Conwy Breastfeeding Friends
You can also find groups the peer supporters visit locally by checking the branch Calendar or the Peer Supporter timetable.
This volunteer team of local mothers will also link in with existing activities provided by local health practitioners and we have been working hard to set up collaborative working links with other peer support groups in North Wales. The team feel very strongly that the role of a peer supporter is complementary, not supplementary, to local health professionals and the peer supporters will point parents in the right direction for more specialised help where needed. In many cases, your midwife or health visitor would be your first point of contact for the breastfeeding advice you need.
"Peer counselling is a culturally sensitive approach to providing information and support, while inspiring confidence"
If you would like to know more about training to be a peer supporter or to arrange for peer supporters to visit your group, please contact Cara on 07532318377 or email . You can download a poster for the group here!
ATTENTION KNITTERS! Could you knit us a knocker? Our peer supporters need knitted boobs to help demonstrate latching and positioning techniques - they are also a great ice breaker and a calling card! If you or your knitting group would like to get involved then please get in touch!
You can download a pattern for knitted boobs here! and this is what the finished ones look like!
