Breastfeeding Support
Our breastfeeding support services are provided free to anyone and you can reach a breastfeeding counsellor just by calling our breastfeeding line on 0300 330 0771.
Breastfeeding counsellors are happy to help with any breastfeeding related issue – e.g. sore nipples or other feeding difficulties, returning to work and breastfeeding or mixing breast and bottles, feeding older babies, stopping breastfeeding and any worries you may have about finding it difficult to breastfeed or stopping feeding. NCT Barnet has its own Breastfeeding counsellor, Nicole Kyriakides. You can call Nicole on 020 8371 9339. Nicole can also arrange breast pump hire.
Midwives are very busy and do not always have time to sit with you in the first few days after your baby is born so breastfeeding counsellors often take calls from women at this time. If you are worried in any way, please do call.
The NCT Breastfeeding helpline is open 24 Hours a day on 0300 330 0771
Our antenatal teachers and breastfeeding counsellors undergo a thorough training with the NCT, although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers and counsellors keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year. Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents should take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
