Feeding Your Baby
The NCT wants all breastfeeding mothers and babies to have a good experience.
But what if you need help? or are worried or confused abour something?
- You may find the help you need from friends or family, or from midwives or health visitors
- You may come along to our B.A.B.I.E.S. (Babies And Breastfeeding: Information, Encouragement, Support) group, which is run by our breastfeeding counsellors and provides free breastfeeding support and help to all new mothers, these run weekly in central Basingstoke and on alternate weeks in Overton & Whitchurch
- You may also choose to ring an NCT breastfeeding counsellor to talk over any concerns:
Fiona, Mindy and Sarah take local calls as volunteers in their own homes. If they are not available you will be able to leave a message on an answering machine, they will aim to call you back within 24hrs - usually sooner.
Fiona – 01256 334343
Mindy – 01256 773091
Sarah – 01256 321890
If you need a more immediate response you can also call the national NCT Breastfeeding Helpline, between 8am and 10pm, 7 days a week.
Breastfeeding Line – 0300 330 0771 (8am-10pm)
Our breastfeeding counsellors are mothers who have breastfed and have qualified with a university DipHE in Breastfeeding Counselling. They’ve learned to listen carefully and aim to understand your point of view. They don’t tell you what to do. In most breastfeeding situations they can give research-based information. They can talk through what’s important to you. Your conversations are free and confidential.
