Nearly New Sales
![]() |
The cost of kitting out your child for the first five years can run into thousands of pounds. NCT Nearly New Sales are the perfect solution – top-quality baby and children’s clothes and equipment at bargain prices straight from their loving owners. |
Our next Nearly New Sale will be on 14th April, 2012 at Bath Race Course. We'll update this page with more details soon so please keep checking back.
Please note that we are only able to accept cash and cheques supported by a cheque guarantee card as payment at the sale.
Contact us by email bathnns@googlemail.com for information or a sellers pack

Download the NNS sale poster.
For dates and venues of other nearly new sales in your area, you can put your postcode into the NCT's Nearly New Sale Finder: www.nct.org.uk/in-your-area/nearly-new-sales
We would really appreciate donations of cakes, biscuits and sandwiches for the café (preferably home-made). We also always need volunteers on the day between 8am and 2-30pm approximately. If you volunteer before the sale, you get the opportunity to shop before we open the doors.
Registering to sell at sale
To register as a seller please email us bathnns@googlemail.com, or complete and return a seller's pack application form (see below). You will then be allocated a sellers number, please read seller instructions carefully as we have made some changes for this sale.
Please also print and display the sale poster in your house or car window or anywhere parents of young children gather, and tell all your friends. All publicity for our sale helps us to sell your goods!
How The Sale Works
The sale is a fundraiser for your local NCT branch, also enabling you to sell your good quality clothes, toys and equipment.
You will be provided with labels to price your goods beforehand, bring them to the sale on the day and 75% of what is sold goes to you with 25% going to the NCT.
A Sellers Pack costs £2.50.
Sorting Goods
You can sell a maximum of 100 items, only 50 can be clothing. If you wish to sell more items you will need to apply for a second sellers pack. Items must be sorted into the following categories and put in separate bags for each category.
Any items not sorted into separate bags will not be put out for sale due to time constraints. Bundles of clothing must be one age group, and secured so the buyer can see all items

Quality
Please remember that this is a Nearly New Sale and NOT a jumble sale. We will quality check items, and if we think an item is inappropriate, we reserve the right to withdraw it from the sale.
Please see the Sellers Instructions for a detailed list of what will not be accepted. Such items will be returned at the end of the sale. Please provide instructions for goods if you have them, and ensure goods are complete, in working order and clean.
The Day of the Sale
You may drop your items off at the racecourse between 8.15 and 9.00am. If we do not receive the disclaimer along with your SAE on the day of sale you will not be able to sell your goods with us.
Under no circumstances can we accept goods any later, as we have limited time to prepare for the sale. You must collect all unsold goods after the sale and leave a large labelled bag for us to put unsold items in at the end of the sale.
End of Sale
Unsold goods must be collected on the day between 1.30pm – 1.45pm. Only registered volunteers are allowed in the hall whilst the unsold goods are being sorted.
Your Sellers form will be returned to you temporarily for you to check your sold/unsold items.
Please make sure you hand your form back before you leave as we are unable to provide payment without it. It would be helpful if you could check through your bag before you leave to see whether anybody else’s items have been mistakenly added, or any of your own items are missing.
If a seller fails to collect their unsold goods (more than 5 items) the NCT will deduct a commission of 50%. We are unable to dispose of any unsold goods ourselves.
Payment
Remember we need an SAE to return your cheque.
We return all your sold item tickets and your master list along with your cheque and this can be bulky especially if you have sold a number of items.
Can you please provide an A4 envelope with a 1st Class Large Letter stamp as we have had problems in the past with cheques not arriving as there isn’t sufficient postage.
You will receive your sale revenue by cheque, minus 25% commission and £2.50 registration using your SAE within three weeks.
Volunteering
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the sale.
If you would like to volunteer on the day then please let Pauline Boardman know by email to bathnns@googlemail.com.
We need people for a minimum of two hour slots from 8.00am - 2:30pm on Saturday. As a thank you to volunteers we have a pre-sale shop before the doors are open to the public and provide you with a small lunch.
Any general queries before or after the sale please contact Helen by email bathnns@googlemail.com
