Getting Involved
Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT. Get in touch and get involved.
Roles available in Bristol NCT Branch
NCT Cafe Organisers
If you enjoy meeting other parents or experienced isolation as a new mum and want to help others then why not open an NCT café near to where you live? These are weekly or monthly coffee mornings in local cafes throughout Bristol where mums/dads/carers can meet. Some of these groups are special interest such as a caesarean group and dads' group. You will get help to open them up and once open, you only attend when you want to. If you would like further information then please contact our Parent Support Organiser on Bristolpostnatal@nct.org.uk
Advertising Assistant - New Business
Do you like getting out and about and chatting to people? We would like to recruit a new volunteer to help source new advertisers for our newsletter. No experience is needed!
We anticipate this role taking no more than a few hours each month. Much of it could be done whilst you go about your day to day business. For more information please contact Nicky on bristoladvertising@nct.org.uk or the Chairs on bristolchair@nct.org.uk
Nearly New Sale/Volunteer Organiser - Maternity Cover
We are seeking a person or two friends who are willing to take on the role of Nearly New Sale/Volunteer Coordinator. You need to be highly organised and have up to 2 hours available a week generally and on the run up to a sale (May, Sep, Jan) approximately 10 hours a week available. This is a very rewarding role which would suit someone who has experience of organising events. The post will be available early summer and you will have the opportunity to shadow the exisiting coordinator at the May sale. For an informal chat please contact Delphine at bristolvolunteers@nct.org.uk
Festival Tent Organiser - Maternity Cover
Would you like to help coordinate volunteers and equipment for our baby change tent at the International Balloon Fiesta 9-12 August? You do not need to be available for the whole Fiesta - just at the start and end. This was a lovely, rewarding event last year. For an informal chat please contact Sarah at bristolfestivalcoord@nct.org.uk
Events Coordinator
Do you like organising? Our events coordinator is responsible for the Cheeky Monkey's Tea Party in June and for coordinating stall holders at our Nearly New Sales. Most of this is already in hand but we just need someone to be a focal point on the day. If you like organising then please get in touch with Paola at bristolevents@nct.org.uk
Bank Volunteer
We are seeking to establish a bank of volunteers that we can call on for specific events. This may be to bake a cake for our nearly new sale, help at the sale, man a stand at an event etc. You will not be committed to anything but will be emailed when some help is required and you will be able to respond as and when you have some spare time. If you would like to be added to our bank of volunteers please contact our volunteer coordinator Sara on bristolvolunteers@nct.org.uk.
Of course, all of our roles are open to men or women and we welcome volunteers from all ethnic backgrounds and those with disabilities. Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and do some real good in the community. It goes without saying that babies and young children are welcome at all meetings!
