Early Days Postnatal Courses
Postnatal Early Days Courses support mums during the ‘early days’ of life with a new baby by providing an opportunity to meet up and share experiences with others, whilst gaining support and information from our qualified leader. We all experience an enormous change when we become mothers – it’s a demanding role and can be a huge challenge. Many new mums find themselves unprepared for these changes and can feel isolated and under pressure to do everything right. What they often don’t realise is that almost every other new mother feels the same. By having the opportunity to compare experiences in a relaxed, open and honest environment and talk about how they are feeling they begin to realise that their feelings are normal and they are doing OK! NCT Early Days courses usually run for 12 hours over either four or six weeks and are very much focused on parents; they aren’t ‘baby-focused, how-to’ sessions such as changing nappies, weaning or first aid – this type of help can be found elsewhere. Instead we discuss issues that directly affect mums such as: · •Parenting styles •Sleeping, feeding and routines •Physical and emotional changes after birth •Returning to work, or not •Impact of baby on family and social life •Life ahead with a baby Topics vary depending on each group and there is plenty of time to talk to other mums about how they are managing and opportunities to swap tips and ideas for coping with new challenges. Feedback: "This was an outstanding course. The leader was excellent. Aside from my husband, this was the single most supportive thing in the past few weeks and has had a very significant positive impact on my mood, confidence & happiness about motherhood & relationships. It far exceeded my expectations. I particularly appreciated the emotional emphasis. I would have liked it to be a couple of weeks longer.” For booking and further information go to our course booking page.
