Coffee Mornings/Afternoons are hosted by our members in their own homes , they are a great way to meet other Mums and make new friends!

Everyone is welcome to attend our Coffee Mornings/Afternoons – you do not have to be an NCT member to come along. We also welcome mums with bumps or without children to open houses. If your baby wants a feed – breast or bottle – just do it! If your baby feeds better away from distractions, ask the host and they will be happy to find you a quiet area. A jug and hot water can be provided to heat bottles. Please bring your own nappies and check with the host where to change them. We ask for a donation of 50p for attending which is a valuable part of our fundraising.

Not everyone feels comfortable going along to a stranger’s house for coffee and some people worry that they might not fit in with the other mums who are there. So if you wondering what goes and on and whether you would enjoy an open house try the quiz below!

1) When you gave birth did you have:

2) In the first six months you feed / fed your baby
a) breastmilk only

c) a mixture of breastmilk and formula

b) on maternity leave until you go back to work full time

4) You are:
a) living with your partner
b) a single parent

The correct answers are, of course, that if you can tick any of the above boxes and you want to get out and about with your baby or small child then yes, you will fit in.

Our membership is diverse and varied; don’t be fooled by stereotypes of the NCT, the vast majority of us don’t fit them. If you have a small child or baby and like to meet people for a coffee and a chat then you’ve done the right thing by going to an open house.
