Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT. We have recently re-established the Glossop and District branch and need as many volunteers as possible to make Glossop a really active branch so please get in touch and get involved!

Bumps and Babes Helpers

We are urgently looking for people to help with the setting up and clearing away of Glossop Bumps and Babes on a Thursday morning. We currently have a rota, so it will not need to be every week, just whenever it best fits in with you.

The volunteer does not need to be a member of the NCT.

Nearly New Sale Co-Ordinator

NCT Nearly New Sales (NNS) raise essential funds for the NCT and provide a valuable service to local parents and parents to be.  By raising money for the NCT you are helping your branch to reach scores, hundreds or even thousands of parents locally, and helping the charity as a whole to support over a million parents every year.  

The NNS Coordinator is:

• The leader of the NNS team
• A positive, motivational organiser and delegator of the volunteers involved in each NNS
• Plans each NNS so they raise as much money for the charity and help as many local parents as possible

Branch Secretary

The Branch Secretary arranges branch team Meetings, the order of business, venue and any other details, Communicates notices & agendas to team members in time for each meeting by email, Takes minutes at meetings to record decisions and action points, to ensure that everyone is aware of plans for activities, timings etc., and circulate these in good time, keeps a filing system of key materials related to branch meetings. Advertising Co-Ordinator

Advertising and sponsorship raise essential funds for the NCT and help ensure that your branch publications and services to parents can happen. By raising money for the NCT you are helping your branch to reach scores, hundreds or even thousands of parents locally, and helping the charity as a whole to support over a million parents every year.

The Advertising Coordinator:

• makes sure the branch gets the most out of support from companies
• helps branch publications and activities to pay for themselves via advertising and sponsorship

The Advertising Co-ordinator plays a key role in funding branch services for local parents and parents-to-be. Being the Advertising Co-ordinator may be hard work and challenging at times, but always interesting and worthwhile.

Parent Services Administrator

The PSA Link is an important and interesting role for a branch volunteer to help ensure that parents-to-be and new parents who enquire about and book on to NCT antenatal, early days or short breastfeeding courses are also linked with their branch at the earliest opportunity so they can access the branch support and social network and other services such as NCT Nearly New Sales.

The PSA link is:

• the main contact point for the local Parents Services Administrator (PSA)
• linked with other branch team members in order to provide branch materials, publicity flyers etc to the PSA for enquiry packs

A successful PSA Link knows about branch activities and helps the PSA promote these effectively to enquirers and class bookers.

Fundraising Co-ordinator

As well as being a hugely rewarding experience personally, you can inspire the NCT Glossop team and play a part in supporting millions of parents every year. Help us to raise as much money as possible for local NCT services to parents and the wider work of the charity. 

Grants Co-ordinator

Works across the branch to help plan and fund valuable support and projects for local parents and parents-to-be. 

Membership Secretary

The Membership Coordinator’s role is to provide the first point of contact for new and renewing NCT members. They also need to actively promote membership as a way of supporting the charity and develop strategies for improving membership in the branch area, with the support of the branch team.

A successful Membership Coordinator is well organised, an effective communicator and knowledgeable about branch activities and the NCT as a whole in order to encourage parents to join and stay as members.

Key Skills: team work, enthusiasm a good listener and communicator in person, on the telephone and in  writing, organisation and planning, ability to recruit, motivate and retain members and to spot potential volunteers.
