Volunteering
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING OUR EVENTS TEAM?
We are desperate to expand our events team to allow us to carry on putting on events such as the No-Bangs Fireworks Party, Easter Eggs Hunt and Toddler Craft activities. If you are interested in helping, please contact events@godalmingnct.org.uk. You can do as much or little as you like from organising a whole event to just writing a few letters to potential raffle prize donors or manning a stall for an hour at an event. The NCT have just announced that members who are registered as volunteers will automatically receive a discount on their memebrship at the point of renewal, saving £14 a year, so another good reason to get involved!
Other vacancies
We’ve had a number of vacancies filled in the last few months but have also had a few people move on to new and exciting things, so are always looking for new volunteers.
Most of the volunteer roles in the Branch do not need you to be a member of the NCT (but many of us are anyway!)
We currently have the following Branch vacancies:
- 'Area mums' for Bargate Wood, Elstead, Cranleigh Villages and Milford
These roles involve getting new members involved in activities and welcoming them to the NCT, hosting a monthly event (for example, coffee, walk in the park or a summer picnic) and delivering the quarterly newsletters. We’re currently running quite a few ‘joint’ activities across areas so the reps are getting together to host these. - Advertising co-ordinator
The Advertising Coordinator makes sure the branch gets the most out of support from companies and helps branch publications and activities to pay for themselves via advertising and sponsorship. They do this by inspiring local companies and organisations to advertise in and sponsor branch publications, events and services and selling advertising and commercial sponsorship across the branch, from newsletter advertising to sponsorship and stalls at events. - Marketing/PR manager
The Marketing/PR manager is able to communicate effectively and persuasively about the NCT in order to maximise opportunities for raising the branch’s and charity’s profile through media coverage and other publicity materials. - Baby First Aid Coordinator.
The NCT are delighted to announce a new partnership with the British Red Cross. The role of Baby first aid coordinator is an incredibly fulfilling one. By arranging NCT Baby first aid courses you are giving local parents access to lifesaving skills and the confidence to put them into practise. You can decide when and where to hold courses and potentially train more than 100 parents every year.
We always need ongoing support at events and sales and if you can't commit to a role in the Branch we're happy to have any ad-hoc help at any of our events. Volunteering is a great way to find out more about the work of the NCT, make new friends and looks good on your CV. If you are interested in helping out with the branch then please contact me at chair@godalmingnct.org.uk.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Annabel White, Chair
