Harpenden & District
Run by local parents, Harpenden & District NCT Branch is your local parent support network, helping you become the parent you want to be.
Welcome!
Whether you are expecting, have a baby, a toddler, or several young children, we hope you find our pages useful! Like all NCT branches, this branch is run and supported solely by volunteers.
The NCT offers a range of support services for parents. We are most known for our antenatal courses, but the branch also runs postnatal support groups to help parents to adjust to their new roles.
Other parents can be a great support, especially for those without nearby family. We provide many opportunities to meet other parents, including the bi-weekly Bumps & Babies sessions, social events such as the Winter Playgroup, Cheeky Monkey Tea Party and Christmas Party. We also have an active Toddler Network E-group and a Facebook page where you can ask questions and keep in touch with local parents. We also have a page for Dads.
If you are new to parenthood, new to the area, or expecting your baby then contact our Newcomer Coordinator. There are monthly newcomer get-to-gethers held in someone's home which are a friendly and informal opportunity to talk to others in a similar situation.
At our bi-annual Nearly New Sales, you can pick up good quality baby clothes and equipment, or sell on items your little one has grown out of. It takes a large number of people to help these sales run smoothly, so do consider volunteering to help out.
We also have a quarterly local newsletter, called Smalltalk which is distributed to all our members, as well as an annual comprehensive guide to activities etc in our local area, called The Little Person's Guide to Harpenden & District.
Volunteering
Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don't need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time or previous experience and skills you can. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT. Further details of our current vacancies can be found on our Get Involved page.
To get involved in our branch, for example by assisting with Toddler playgroups, as one of our coordinators, or if you would like to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis by delivering leaflets or helping with our fundraising events please contact our Recruitment Coordinator.
We look forward to hearing from you!
