Breastfeeding Support
We've included some information below that is designed to help mothers who are looking for more information or support in feeding their babies. Please help us to keep it up to date by emailing ncthertfordware@googlemail.com if you have any updates, or if you would like to tell us about any groups or services not listed.
Information
Your hospital discharge pack should include some information on breastfeeding and support services, including a sheet with contact numbers for locally based volunteer breastfeeding counsellors and groups.

It’s also worth investing in a book specifically on breastfeeding, as some pregnancy and birth books don’t cover the subject in much depth. A good selection is available from the NCT catalogue or online shop www.nctsales.co.uk

Breastfeeding support groups
Many breastfeeding mothers find it helpful to meet with other mothers for a chat, and most groups will have a breastfeeding counsellor or healthcare professional there to discuss any concerns or issues you may have.
We’ve compiled the following list of breastfeeding support groups running throughout the branch. These groups are all run on a drop-in basis, however as many are organised by individual health visitors or rely on volunteers, do call ahead during half term or school holidays, particularly if you have to travel far. There is no charge for attendance and you do not have to be a member of NCT or any other groups.
