Our twice-yearly Nearly New Sales are famous!

We hold Nearly New Sales at Vyners School in Ickenham, Middlesex in March and October.

Over the last few years we have worked very hard to make our sales among the most successful in the country, and we were one of the first branches to receive the NCT's Gold Standard Award in recognition of the consistent high quality of our sales. We sell clothes for children from newborn to age 12, toys, children's books & dvds, baby equipment, parenting books, maternity wear and equipment and we usually have an amazing variety of items at bargain prices. We also have a refreshment area serving hot and cold drinks and snacks, including home made cakes.

We see our sales as a cornerstone of what the NCT represents - they help local parents buy essentials and treats for their families at very reasonable prices, they help families financially by enabling them to sell their great-quality used goods, and they promote recycling. Our sales are also a great way for sellers and buyers to socialise and for volunteers to have fun, meet other parents and put something back into their community. Many of our volunteers come back time after time, even when they are no longer buying or selling! But perhaps most importantly, we have raised tens of thousands of pounds to support our charity, both in Hillingdon and nationally. We would like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers, sellers and buyers who help make our sales such a success!

This is how it works.....

We have around 80 sellers and these places are filled very quickly, so please register VERY early to avoid disappointment. We start registering on a specified date 2-3 months before the sale, so please check the "Events" section of this website for details of that date.

There is a £7.50 registration fee to cover our administration costs and, on receipt of this, we send out detailed instructions, labels and a unique seller number. Sellers then label all of their items and bring them to the hall on the morning of the sale and our volunteers, including many sellers who stay for all or part of the day, put everything out in the hall. The sale starts at 1pm with NCT members admitted, non-members can enter at 1.30pm and we are usually busy from then until the doors close at 3.30pm. At the checkouts we remove the bottom half of the seller labels and these are sorted, first by colour and then by seller number. Each seller's labels are later added up, double checked, and the seller will be sent a cheque for 75% of the total.

After the sale our volunteers sort any left over items into the sellers' boxes or bags ready for collection at about 5pm. Of course we welcome any sellers who are able to come earlier and help with the sorting - the more volunteers we have the more smoothly the sale runs, which benefits buyers and sellers alike, as well as the NCT.

Our venue, Vyners School, is a large secondary school with lots of parking, very accessible at around a minute's drive from the A40 Swakeley's Road exit and only a few minutes from the M40/M25 interchange.
