Buddy Scheme
We are looking for volunteers to become ‘buddies’ to new and expectant parents in the area. We would also like to hear from any expectant or new parents who would like a Buddy.
The basis of the Buddy system is that we team up experienced mums with mums-to-be so they can share friendly advice and support for the first few months after their babies are born. Additionally, we can put new mums in touch with others living locally, to help build up friendships and a support network.
Buddies provide parent-to-parent support on a friendly basis - this could mean attending a few social events together (eg. NCT coffee mornings or playgroups); and also passing on any advice about things that worked for you / facilities you made use of. The Buddy system is mainly about offering support and encouragement to new parents in the early months of their baby arriving.
If you are interested and want to know more, please do drop your local Buddy Co-ordinator a line: Knaphill/Brookwood/Chobham – Cara Newing (cara.newing@sky.com) Woking – Lizzy Buss (lizzybuss@hotmail.co.uk)
