Get Involved
COULD YOU GIVE SOMETHING BACK?
Volunteering for NCT gives you an opportunity to use and develop, your skills, experience, creativity and enthusiasm while making a difference to parents locally and throughout the UK. All while making friends and having fun! You don’t have to be a woman or even a parent to volunteer for NCT, We believe everyone has something to contribute and that we can support everyone to be involved. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us at nctleatherhead@hotmail.co.uk and tell us what you’re interests and skills are and find out what opportunities there are currently. We always welcome new faces.
Volunteer Opportunities
As all our local volunteers have family commitments and jobs, we have tried to break down the various roles in the branch to make it easier for people to fit in volunteering around their busy lives. There are activities that only take a couple of hours a year to more regular monthly involvement in activities – flexibly fitting round the demands of a family. Many of the activities work well shared with someone else or a small team (such as organising the nearly new sales).
Volunteer Bank
If you think you could spare just an hour or two on an occasional basis, and would you like to help us in reaching out to and supporting more parents and parents-to-be in the area, we would love to hear from you. The occasional tasks you might be asked to consider doing could include helping out at a Nearly New Sale, putting up posters at your local shop, toddler group, or nursery, offering a friendly ear to a struggling new mum in the next street, contacting some potential advertisers, either by phone, letter or in person, or just attending a nearby social event to give the organiser some moral support! By signing up to the Volunteer Bank, you are NOT committing yourself to take on all (or even any at all!) of the tasks you might be asked to do.
Fundraising
The work of the NCT depends on generating income to fund activities and services. Some of this money comes from things like membership subscriptions and antenatal class fees, but our branch also depends heavily on local fundraising through events such as Nearly New Sales. The more money we generate, the better able the NCT is to carry on its vital campaigning work and provide much-needed parent services.
Branch Newsletter
The branch produces a quarterly publication, Pitter Patter, and offers of help with writing and production are always welcome. The newsletter goes out to over 250 local families and this is a great way of using skills in a flexible way.
