The NCT is a charity and it relies on the donations and volunteering efforts of its members to continue to provide and expand its services to parents and children.

Lewisham & Greenwich have consistently high levels of volunteers so a big thank you to all and keep it up! But we constantly need more volunteering help, particular following our transition into two branches.

Join the NCT

It may seem obvious, but a first step to getting involved with your local branch of NCT is to join. You can do this here or by calling the NCT membership team on 0844 243 7000. It's a really big help to us if you can include a personal email address (rather than work email address) that you can be contacted on when on maternity leave, as this is often the easiest and most convenient way for volunteers to get in touch, or for us to tell you about events. Please be assured that this will not be used for any other purpose.

Fundraising update

Thank you very, very much to the following for recent donations and fundraising for Lewisham NCT:
•    Kim from Oaktree Yoga, who has donated 5% of the fees from NCT members who attend her pregnancy yoga classes.
•    Svea and all the Blythe Hill mums who have raised funds at their very successful morning mums groups.
•    Laure and friends for the French mini-book sale.
•    Maya Haiman-Eilon, Nikki Erasmus, Dana Bradley and Vicki Odili for organising first aid courses.
•    The Nearly New Sale team (Laure, Lara, Meredith, Shayala, Vivian), all the volunteers, sellers, buyers, cake makers, advertisers… too many to mention here, but you know who you are! Thank you so much!
•    All our newsletter advertisers, who fund the production of this well-loved publication! We really appreciate every donation, no matter how small, which helps us keep the branch running. Volunteering

We have a variety of volunteering positions that need filling. Whatever your skills or interests, we can find something for you. See Volunteering Opportunities on the left for a full list of all the vacant posts. Volunteering is a great way to:

• meet other like-minded people
• support your community
• keep your existing skills up to date
• try out a new role and learn new skills
• help other parents in your area
• support a very worthwhile national charity

We are a very friendly team, and we would love some new volunteers to help us make Lewisham NCT fantastic! You are welcome to come along to a branch meeting before committing to anything, you can find details of our meetings here. By volunteering, you will also be entitled to a £14 discount the next time you come to renew your NCT membership. Just make sure you're enrolled on the volunteers' register by emailing lewishamnctsecretary@googlemail.com 

Can I help out without taking on a role?

Yes! There are plenty of other ways to be involved. Every little bit of help is appreciated. For example, you could:

• host an open house or taster session
• help out at our branch events (e.g. Cheeky Monkeys tea party, Bumps and Babies groups)
• volunteer at a Nearly New Sale (and get to shop in advance!)
• bake some cakes or biscuits for our events
• write an article for our newsletter 'New Addition' on your parenting experiences
• put out event posters and branch leaflets at your local playgroup
