Our last Nearly New Sale Sunday 11^th March at Kennet School Thatcham.

We had a great day on Sunday 11^th March, even the sun shone for us and those in the queue! In the run up to the sale everything had gone very smoothly. Lots of people registered to sell online and, thankfully, lots also volunteered to help on the day. So when all the items were delivered to us in the morning there was lots to unpack and display.

The buyers who are NCT members entered the sale at 11am and got 15 minutes to look around before non members came in. It seemed very busy with lots of items being whisked of the rails and tables. In the end we had 263 people come through to shop which was brilliant

The volunteers were kept very busy on the tills as all the items were purchased. And everyone, despite working hard to keep the sale running smoothly seemed to be having a lovely time.

We were also lucky to have a few traders with stalls for the buyers to look at and many thanks to the Newbury Hospital Helpers League who brought some of their Tea Bar to provide drinks and snacks to anyone who needed refreshing from the frantic shopping.

After the sale was over those volunteers who were helping in the afternoon were rewarded with a delicious lunch, many thanks to Jo and Jayne, then the work started again. We managed it all very well and by 3pm not only were all the unsold items ready to collect but all the sellers had their proceeds to take home too.

All in all a very successful sale which could not have happened without all the volunteers and the time and effort from the committee members. Thank you very much to everyone. We raised a brilliant £1365 for the NCT of which our Newbury Branch keeps £409.50 for our own support of local expectant couples and parents of young children.

Our next sale is on Saturday September 22^nd at Kennet School, Thatcham. Remember you do not need to be a member to sell and clear out some of your outgrown clothes, toys and baby equipment. We have implemented a commission cap for the more expensive items like pushchairs so any one item of any price over £40 will only donate £12 to the NCT charity. Don’t forget you can also help out on the day of the sale, whether you are selling or not. All volunteers get a chance to have a pre sale shop as a thank you and amazingly it is actually really good fun even though you are working!
