Local support groups

Here is a listing of local support groups that new parents might find useful. To recommend one please email details to peterboroughadvertising@nct.org.uk and if suitable they can be listed for free.

Baby Cafés are drop-in centres which support breastfeeding mothers. They are run by health visitors and trained peer supporters in several locations in and around Peterborough. Baby Cafes in Wisbech and Stanground are run by NCT Breastfeeding Counsellors - more details on our events page.

Bliss supports parents of premature and sick newborns. In Peterborough they have a Bliss champion and an affiliated suport group run by the Little Miracles charity.

Breastfeeding support is available from lots of places in Peterborough including our local NCT breastfeeding counsellor. See our services section on this website.

Bumps and Babies is our own weekly group for parents during pregnancy and the first year. You can expect lots of mum to mum support and a cuppa/biscuit made by one of our friendly volunteers. See our events page on this website.

Little Miracles is a parent led support group and charity for families with children that have additional needs/ disabilities based in Peterborough.

Nacro is a crime reduction charity which suports teenage parents and parents-to-be. The aim is to reduce crime by changing lives. Type Peterborough into their internal search engine to bring up current local projects.

Peterborough Families Information Service provides free and impartial information on a range of family-related topics including childcare, activities for children and local family support services.

Peterborough Homebirth Group is a group of local parents who have had a homebirth or are considering having one. The object is to share experiences and support each other through an egroup and meetings.

Peterborough Women’s Aid aims to relieve the distress and trauma experienced by women and their children who have been affected by their domestic violent situations. Tel: 08454 103123 (24 hour freephone)

Peterborough Women's Centre offers a ‘listening ear’ to all women at times of personal crisis. It acts as a signposting organisation and is able to refer to specialist agencies to provide more assistance

Peterborough Sands (stillbirth & neonatal death) is a group of bereaved parents who support anyone affected by the death of a baby through the many challenges life brings afterwards. Can befriend on a one to one basis or offer group support at meetings.

Family Voice is a local voluntary group which supports parents and carers of children and young people aged 0—25 years with a disability or additional needs.
