Get Involved

Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT. Get in touch and get involved! Volunteering with the branch allows you to:

  • Take on new challenges and get a sense of achievement upon completing them
  • Influence people's lives for the better and help make a difference
  • Meet new friends going through the same life changing times as you
  • Give others the level of support you may have enjoyed when you joined NCT

Our branch of the NCT exists because of the dedication and support of its members and volunteers. The members who get involved with volunteering are the lifeblood of the work of the NCT. Enthusiasm is much more important than experience, and roles can be as much, or as little, as you want them to be.

Some roles are committee roles and need to be filled by members of the NCT for insurance purposes, but some of the roles do not need to be committee roles and can therefore be undertaken by someone who isn’t a member – perhaps you know someone who’d like to get involved? Whatever time you can commit or experience you can bring, there is a role to suit you.

Here are just a selection of the positions within the branch:

Nearly New Sale Volunteer: By volunteering just 2-3 hours twice a year you can not only beat the queues in getting a bargain yourself, but you can help local parents to support the branch by purchasing lots of items on the day. Our sales have been growing every year and we are always looking for new volunteers to help.

Newsletter Contributer: Our newsletters are written by local parents, for local parents. We publish 4 a year and they are sent out to every member household in the branch, as well as being donated to local Children's Centres and NHS locations. We welcome all submissions from parents of articles they would like to share, from birth stories to book reviews, recipes to helpful information on topics. All articles must comply with NCT guidelines, but if you are interested in contributing please speak to Charlotte.

Branch Committee Member: The branch helps to shape the role of NCT locally. If you would like to get involved generally in helping out with the branch, joining the committee is an ideal first start. We meet one evening a month and there would be no pressure to take on any more responsibilities than this.

Baby Talk and Small Talk Volunteers: Baby Talk and Small Talk is an ideal group to meet other prospective and new parents in the local area. We currently run 2 sessions, one in Petersfield and one in Liss. We welcome any help in running these existing sessions. To discuss opportunities please contact: Emily, Natalie or Ros.
