NCT Rugby Branch needs you!
Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. We are a great branch, we offer an amazing range of support to new parents and parents-to-be and we raise lots of money to support the work of NCT nationally! We need your help to continue to support parents in our area. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just offer whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and be a bigger part of the NCT.
If you had a link parent mum after your NCT antenatal classes, if you have been to bumps and babies or one of our coffee mornings, if you’ve bagged a bargain at one of our Nearly New Sales or enjoyed reading our newsletter ’Special Delivery’, then you have used services provided by our NCT volunteers.
Please don’t wait for somebody else to volunteer! If everybody helps a little bit we will have a stronger team. Support and training is available for all NCT volunteers. All roles can be shared with a friend.
Phone 0844 243 6253 or email us on nctrugbychair@yahoo.co.uk and let us know how you can help!
This is your branch - be part of it and make a difference.
Roles up for grabs:
Nearly New Sale Co-ordinator
Take the lead in working with our team of Nearly New Sale in Octiber 2012. We'll have a group of volunteers to share the work of organising our Nearly New Sale, from promotion to sending out packs, You can help plan, motivate and organise!
Publicity Officer
In essence, the role of the publicity officer is to get as much free publicity for Rugby NCT branch (and the national NCT) and its activities.Typically that involves:
- writing press releases to publicise new activities, groups, events etc
- arrange photocalls with the local newspapers
- writing letters to the local newspaper for the 'letters to the editor' page
- talking to journalists from the local newspapers and Rugby FM about NCT events or activities
- being interviewed on the radio (usually pre-recorded) about NCT events or activities
- liaising with the free magazines to get NCT events, regular groups and activities publicised
- publicising NCT events and activities on free local 'what's on' websites
Dateline planner
Liaise with members and volunteers to arrange a diary of activities where parents can meet for friendship and support. Put together the list of dates of upcoming events from NCT coffee to Homebirth group. This is then publicised on the website and in the newsletter.
Vice-chair
Support our Chair, Nic and look after the branch in her absence, chair meetings, keep in touch with the other committee members and keep things ticking over.
Coffees helpers
Do you love people, a good cup of tea and can you make toast? We need someone to help Kate oversee coffee mornings and the popular Bumps and Babes in Dunchurch.
Fundraising co-ordinator
This is a hugely rewarding role and great fun! You can inspire the NCT Rugby team with imaginative fundraising events & ideas and help make them a reality. Help the branch to raise as much money as possible for local NCT services to parents and the wider work of the charity.
Link Parents
Meet with new parents just before their births and after - offer support and help those who attended antenatal classes together bond as a support group.
This is your branch - be part of it and make a difference.
FAQs
Will it take up much of your time? Not necessarily, you can make as much of these roles as you'd like. As they currently stand the monthly coffee mornings in their very nature require monthly attention whereas the branch socials are organised quarterly so generally need an hour or two of your time once a quarter.
What sort of commitment are we looking for? All that we ask is that you attend committee meetings where possible (they take place monthly) and provide updates at times you can't attend so that the committee knows what is happening when and is able to offer support. You don't need to attend the coffee mornings or the events if you aren't able to.
What's in it for me? Well as we're all volunteers we can't offer to pay you! However you can use this experience as an opportunity to learn a new skill or to exercise an existing one. You will feel a sense of achievement and pride in helping new parents like we all once were. And you will enjoy feeling a part of a community as you make new friends through the committee (we're a very friendly bunch!).
Do you need experience? No, you just need to be sociable. Any training required will be given and a handover will take place.
Help?
For all these roles there is lots of support available from the rest of the NCT Rugby team and the team at NCT head office.

Thank you!
