Join the Team
Aside from our paid Specialist Workers who are trained by the NCT to run our courses, the branch is run on a voluntary basis by its members for its members and all new parents. Like any group run by volunteers, we are only as good as the people who help out. Volunteering is a great way to fill the gap if you are taking time out from work and is a great way to give something back if, like most of us who volunteer, the NCT provided you with a fantastic group of friends as well as a support network.
You can become more involved with the branch by joining our very own Seeds and Saplings editorial committee, or by sharing your birth story, making tea and coffee at a social event, taking up a committee post, volunteering at our at the twice-yearly Nearly New Sales, helping out within your neighbourhood by hosting a coffee morning or delivering some quarterly magazines….there are plenty of jobs, big or small.

Why Volunteer?
A recent survey by Time Bank showed that 94% of employers believe that volunteering can improve your skills in the workplace.
Make new friends - "I volunteered for St Albans NCT as Vice Chair when I moved from Reading with my husband and two kids. I wanted to be involved with the community and get out there to meet others who have the same interests as myself. We now hve some great groups going and regular social eveninings, such as Sala dancing, pub nights and meals out." Jessica
Build your confidence - Volunteering is a great way to either keep your hand in with skills you already have or to try something new.
Help the NCT's work to continue - If you feel the NCT made a difference to your experience of becoming a parent, volunteering can be a great way to give something back. From being a friendly face at a baby and toddler event or volunteering at a Nearly New Sale, you can help the NCT continue to make a difference for other mums and dads. Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time or previous experience and skills you can. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT.
To get involved in our branch, for example, as a Neighbourhood Organiser running coffee mornings, as a team post-holder or if you would like to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis by delivering leaflets or helping with our social and fundraising events please contact the Branch Secretary at secretary@stalbans-nct.co.uk
We look forward to hearing from you!
