This page will answer some common questions about donating online with JustGiving.
If your donation is in return for a event or prize draw ticket, then please read through our Guide to Buying Tickets with JustGiving as there are some specific boxes that need to be checked/unchecked for this.

Do I have to give my contact details?

You will need to enter your name, address and email in order to make a donation.

By default, your name and the amount you have donated will appear on the donations page but you can change your name to 'anonymous' or a nickname, and also choose to hide the amount you have given from public view.

The page administrator for the branch will be able to see your name and donation amount.  You can also choose to make your email address visible to the page administrator (and you will need to do this if your donation is related to entry to an event).

Does all of my money go to the St Albans branch?

There's a bit of a messy process whereby the money goes to the NCT charity and is then transferred back to the St Albans Branch bank account.  Annually, the money we fundraise is split between the branch and the main NCT charity to support parents all over the country. 

I've heard that JustGiving take a percentage of money donated. Why not use a different method of collecting donations?

Charities are charged £15 a month (that's the NCT as a whole, not our branch) plus 5% of the donation.
For us, this is generally made up for by having an easy way to collect GiftAid on donations (nb we cannot collect GiftAid if your donation is for an event or prize draw).

We also investigated PayPal as an option, but the fee structure is only better if the average size of donation is more than £10.

Other sites have different charging structures, but they're all much the same overall. JustGiving is well established, has a stable site, and makes it very easy to donate.
