NCT Stars Awards, October 2011
Stamford Bourne & Deeping Branch has been named joint winner of the Fundraising Success of the Year category at the NCT Stars Awards. Our branchs’ Fundraising and Nearly New Sale teams attended a special celebration at the House of Lords on Wednesday 26 October, where NCT, the UK’s largest charity for parents, presented the awards. The branch was also named Highly Commended in the Bumps & Babies Group of the Year category for Tiddlywinks.
Our fundraising activities this year including three Nearly New Sales, Cheeky Monkey Tea Parties, a Baby Fair and pamper evening. Our most successful Nearly New Sale raised over £2,000 to further the work of NCT charity. The Fundraising & Nearly New Sale team are Claire Rowan, Annie Cooke, Sarah Stephen-Smith, Rachel Bush, Sally Midlen, Claudette Joint, Lucy Bateson, Kat Tuplin and Becky Amos. Meanwhile, our rejuvenated Bumps & Babies group, Tiddlywinks, has improved venue and thanks to the hard work of the Tiddlywinks team – Susanne Denton, Caroline Hartley and Rachel Bush –now attracts 20-30 families a week, with regular talks from local services and businesses and an NCT breastfeeding counsellor attending to support parents.
On behalf of the branch, Lucy Bateson said: “We are delighted to win this award, and to be named Highly Commended in the Bumps & Babies category. It means a lot to be recognised for the work we have done.” NCT Stars Awards, sponsored by Pampers, attracted a high volume of nominations from across the country, with six different categories representing the range of different roles volunteers take on for the charity.
