Key Roles - Job Descriptions

Branch Co-ordinator role description
The Branch Coordinator is:
•the leader of the branch team
•the main communication link with the regional team and UK office
•an advocate for the NCT in the local community
A successful Coordinator knows what branches are expected to do and ensures that the branch has a plan and vision for what is to be achieved locally.
KEY TASKS
•Ensure that the branch team plans, publicises and provides activities for parents-to-be and new parents
•Run regular team meetings
•Ensure that links with specialist workers, students and the parent services administrator are positive and effective
•Link with the country/regional team and UK office
•Promote the NCT in the local community
•Ensure that the branch raises enough money to cover local activities, student expenses (as required) and its share of the charity’s overall costs
•Ensure that the branch complies with the requirements of the Branch Charter
Membership Coordinator – role description
The Membership Coordinator is:
•the designated first point of contact in the branch for new and renewing members
•able to promote membership as a way that individuals can support the NCT charity
KEY TASKS
•Be first point of contact for all new members, enquirers and event attendees for your branch (these tasks may be shared with a General Enquiries Contact)
•Receive and follow up enquiries about membership and branch activities via telephone (taking one of the redirect options on the branch telephone number), email and in person
•Follow all relevant NCT policies and charity law, in particular complying in full with NCT Data Protection Policies and providing guidance about these to other team members
•Send welcome letters/e-mails to new members
•Prepare labels for newsletters or other branch communications to members/enquirers/class bookers
•Maintain relationships with branch members to ensure that retention of members is maximised within the branch
•Provide regular reports to the branch team regarding membership numbers and trends and attend team meetings
•Provide information about new members and enquirers to other team members, e.g. parent support coordinator, newsletter editor, so they can follow-up
•Ensure that information about branch volunteers provided via the Branch Information Form is checked quarterly to ensure it is up to date, and accurate if there is no Branch Secretary in place
Parent Support Coordinator – role description
The Parent Support Coordinator will:
•Ensure that the parent support system in the branch is working well, e.g. welcome events, bumps and babies groups, open houses
•Work with the Membership Coordinator on systems to ensure that new members, class attendees and enquirers are welcomed to the branch and receive information about the activities on offer
•Collect details of local related organisations and groups
•Liaise with or meet regularly with branch antenatal teacher, breastfeeding counsellor and the PSA to ensure that they have up to date information about branch parent support activities so they can encourage parents to get involved
•Develop contacts with local health and children’s services professionals to exchange information about the support your branch can offer and the needs of the community
•Keep up to date and circulate branch key contact information with regard to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
•Promote membership of the NCT as a way of supporting the charity at parent support events
Encourage new helpers to volunteer for this important work in the branch
