Social Groups

Winchester NCT is there to support all expectant and new parents whether you're a member or not. All the people listed are volunteers, so please be considerate when contacting them.

Support and friendship from other parents

This is one of the most vital and thriving aspects of the NCT’s work. Many new mothers (and fathers) have no family or friends with children living locally, and have had little contact with babies before having their own: the companionship of other parents is invaluable.

Bumps & Babies Coffee Mornings

Come along to our weekly Bumps & Babies coffee mornings for expectant and new parents - toddlers welcome too; volunteers are on-hand to make you a cup of tea or coffee while you settle down to meet other parents just like you.

£1.50 per family, with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Plus usually a speaker or vendor. See our Events page for details.

Tea Dates

Tea dates are meet-ups in members’ houses, in areas outside of Winchester, and give mums local to those towns and villages contact with and support from others nearby.

In Alresford please contact Felicity on 01962 736019 or felicity@felicitydwyer.com.

We have two mums, one living near Stockbridge, and another in Kings Worthy, who are keen to start groups up in those areas. If you’d like to join them, please contact enquiries@winchester-nct.org.uk. If you’d like to start one up in any other area of the district please contact Claire if you’d like help to get the ball rolling.

Working Mothers’ Group

This is a support group for mothers in paid work. The group has a monthly meeting or social event. Contact Lisa on email wmg@winchester-nct.org.uk.

Home Birth Group

There's no place like home.... Research has shown that for women having a normal, healthy pregnancy, planned home birth is as safe as hospital birth. Unfortunately, this is not always the reaction many women recieve when they mention they are considering a home birth.

The Winchester Home Birth group provides an opportunity to meet and talk with other parents who have experienced or are planning a home birth, as well as providing a forum for midwives, antenatal teachers and others interested in home birth to share ideas, knowledge and experience.

Whether you are undecided or are already making plans for home birth, you are welcome. We meet informally with refreshments. For more information, please contact Kayt on 07901 653818.

Winchester Twins Club

Although not affiliated with the NCT, the Winchester Twins Club is the local group for parents (or parents to be) of twins and multiples. Contact details and information on their activities are available at http://winchestertwinsclub.blogspot.com/.

Girls' Nights Out

Sometimes you need a little 'me' time. Come along and meet other mums and committee members, without a nappy bag, muslin and rattle in tow. We meet quarterly at a local pub and just chat: its not all about weaning and potty training, but about anything and everything. Email honorarysecretary@winchester-nct.org.uk for more details or see our Events page.

Volunteering

If you're finding the daily grind of parenthood a little bit - dare we say it - samey, and want to do something that exercises your brain, or revives a workplace skill, then why not volunteer? You can spend as much or as little time as you want, and there are always lots of opportunities. See our Volunteers page for more information or contact enquiries@winchester-nct.org.uk
