Many hands make light work...

Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT.

Volunteering

Below are details of the opportunities on our branch team.Any post can be split to accommodate whatever time you have to spare – why not job share with a friend?

Advertising Co-ordinator/team support

Markets advertising in newsletter, at fundraising events and on branch web pages, working with other team members.  

Branch Deputy Chair

Like the Chair, co-ordinates work of the branch team, supervises and develops the team as a group, is a link between the branch and other parts of the NCT.

General Enquiries Secretary

Handles external enquiries from local parents; welcomes them to the branch and encourages involvement.

Membership Secretary

Welcomes those getting in touch with the branch and encourages involvement and membership, keeps in touch with members and encourages renewals.

Parent Support Liason

Co-ordinates support activities and responds to enquiries from local parents, putting them in touch with branch activities and services to meet their needs.

Post-natal Support

Contact for homebirth, working parents, miscarriage, caesarean, fathers: runs an experiences register, support groups, or provides telephone/ e-mail support.

Press/Publicity Officer

Promotes the NCT and branch activities through the local media, pursues other opportunities for publicity.

Social Events Secretary

Liaises with members/ volunteers to produce a local diary of activities where parents can get together for friendship and mutual support.

Treasurer

Provides financial information necessary for the branch team to manage the branch’s finances, keeps the branch’s accounts up to date and prepares annual accounts.

Always needed – General Volunteers

Lend a hand whenever you can e.g. post-natal coffee host, Nearly New Sales, putting up posters, etc.
