Double the fun...
St. Neots branch organised a very successful event last year so they decided to do two events this year. Nicola Bonell and Jenny Barrett turned their Bumps and Babies group into a Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party for a day. They held jungle animal theme fancy dress for the babies, run a raffle, played games and sold cakes. It was a great turn out and the Mums had made a real effort with the costumes many staying up late to make them.
Their second party was held at the 'Pop In and Play' organised by Catherine Grigg and her team of NCT vounteers. They organised a variety of events for the morning. There was a cake stall, face painting, local business selling books, cards and baby toys. There were a number of craft activites with a jungle animal theme, as well as a story time and song time. Again a fantastic turn out and great fun was had by all.

Overwhelming success

NCT East Grinstead branch Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party was organised by the Parent Support Service Coordinator, Sara Vaughan. It is a small branch who struggle to get volunteers so they were absolutely overwhelmed by the success of their event.
They had a fun afternoon by running a raffle, handing out goody bags, selling cakes, having a music session by Jo Jingles, arts and crafts, face painting and they made over £260 profit on their event.
Sarah and her team said after their tea party that “an event like this helps to keep branch volunteers going”.

Stories from 2009
Please read the stories below which describe some of the successful and fun parties that were hosted in 2009.

67 babies and toddlers went bananas at the NCT Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party on Tuesday 14th July at St Michael's Church Hall, Gordon Hill, Enfield. With the help of their parents they raised almost £500 for charity which will go to the NCT Early Days helpline to support new parents. The little monkeys enjoyed puppets and parachute games from The Magic Music Box, singing and signing from TinyTalk, a colouring competition and party food. Babies had their own quiet room where they could enjoy baby massage and baby yoga with their parents. There were also plenty of opportunities for parents to meet new friends and get support from NCT volunteers and staff.Three year old Tessa said “I liked the puppets best because they talked and sang. The juice and snacks were good!” Colouring competition winner for 2 year olds, Alliah, enjoyed the “big fat cakes”.Waheed Warden from NCT Enfield branch says; “Our NCT Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party is the first in what we hope will be a series of memorable fundraising events for babies and pre-school children in Enfield. We are very proud of the success of this event and would like to thank everyone involved for their support and local businesses for their kind donations.”

Monkeys on fire!
The NCT Dunstable branch recently held their first Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party in several years. Leanne, Hayley and other enthusiastic volunteers were busy selling tickets in advance and putting on a fabulous party in their area. On the day, more than 130 people with over 70 children enjoyed a cheeky afternoon at the Dunstable Fire Station. Kids were able to look at the fire engines, use the hose and take part in other activities such as face painting, balloon modelling and crafts.
Jo Jingles provided a music and singing session, Snappy Snaps provided a dragon mascot and various other traders attended the event. The tea party raised £400 for the Early Days Helpline.

Inspired event
Nicole from the Petersfield and Liss branch attended the NCT Annual Conference in Swansea a few weeks before their Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party event and that really inspired her to go the extra miles and raise as much money as possible.
“The Conference highlighted how much we can achieve as individual branches to contribute to the NCT’s national work. The tea party was a great way to boost our branch’s profile in the local community while raising money for an excellent cause.”
When I first volunteered to run our branch’s event I had no idea what I was taking on. However, once I started with the planning, things began to snowball!
Our venue, the Triangle Centre, was quite small as we never expected so many people to attend! Fun was had by all and we raised an amazing £360 which was fabulous and made all the hard work worth it. The children lived the Humzinger fruit bars and every parent wanted a goody bag.
As our event was a bit of squeeze this time we’’ll consider an outside location or a larger hall next year and we are thinking about holding our party on the weekend (perhaps on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon), so that working dads and mums can come too!”

Wacky raising
Fiona Lynch is an new committee member at the Bury, Rossendale and North Manchester branch and wanted to become more involved in branch activities. Other members in her branch regularly take on mammoth tasks such as organising Nearly New Sales, Swishing nights and Baby Day so she wanted to follow their example. The Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party provided a great opportunity to get involved and organise something fun for the little ones.
The branch tea party was held at a local Wacky Warehouse on 19 June 2009. The organised may activities including: Talk First baby singing, art and craft with Mini Makers, music with Rhythm Time and Kids Rock plus a baby yoga session, face painting and a raffle.
“The Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party not only raised money for the Early Days helpline but also raised awareness of our charity and branch within the local area” said Fiona
