Fundraising – how to become top banana

Don't forget that your NCT Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party is a fundraising event, so be prepared to let people know how and where the money will be used and gently remind guests to give generously or take part in activities which you may be charging for.

Hints and tips to maximise your fundraising margins

• Ask each guest to pay a suggested donation on entry to the party
• Contact local businesses and offer them a stall at the party. Charge them for this opportunity
• Always do a raffle and get prizes donated from local businesses
• Make cakes and sell them at a profit
• Take souvenir photos and ask parents to pay for copies (get parents permission first)
• Arrange games that are cheap to do and you can charge for

Example 1

Lollies in sandpit game (rename for your own theme)

• Get a large container or box and fill this with sand
• Buy a bag of lollipop sticks
• Colour the end of some of the sticks i.e. some blue, some red, some black. Leave some blank
• Insert all the sticks in the sandpit and allow the children to pull the sticks out
• If pulling out a coloured stick the child gets a prize (sweet for black, lollypop for blue, stickers for red etc)

Lucky Dip

• Buy a small collection of gifts or better still get them donated
• Wrap and put in a container
• Charge the children for choosing a present
