Amber Harding

Amber

Amber grew up in Somerset, but after meeting her partner moved to Swansea where she has lived for the last seven years. She runs her own financial services business and has two young children both of whom were born in Swansea. The birth of her first child filled her with a passionate belief in a woman’s ability to give birth, and led to her training with NCT as an antenatal teacher.

Since Amber began her training she has become heavily involved with the local NCT branch, as well as training as an NCT Birth Companion. She has helped to set up and run the NCT Bumps and Babies Group in Sketty along with her fellow NCT Birth Companion, and enjoys having the opportunity to meet and support women who are approaching birth and adjusting to life with a newborn.

Amber believes that all women should be given the opportunity to birth their babies as they wish. They should have access to information to make choices that are right for them and their family. She also believes that if they are nurtured, treated with respect and remain in control of their experience, then they will be able to achieve a positive birth which will make the transition to parenthood easier an easier one.

Amber will meet with you face to face three times during your pregnancy and will be available for you by phone or e mail. During these visits she will get to know you and your partner, explore your hopes and wishes for the birth, and between you establish the best way to support you during your labour. Just as each labour and birth are different so will each woman’s needs be.

Whether you are giving birth at home, in a birth centre or hospital she will stay with you throughout your labour and help you to communicate your choices to doctors and midwives. She will also meet with you once after the birth to discuss your birth experience.

Amber hopes that her support will enable the women and families she works with to have an enjoyable birth experience they can look back on with joy.
