Nearly New Sale

REAL NAPPIES 

Leicestershire County Council will be demonstrating and selling "real nappies".  See the different types that are available and have an opportunity to purchase some.  Be eco-friendly and save pennies too.  www.leics.gov.uk/index/environment/waste/real_nappies.htm  Leicestershire County Council's cash back scheme gives Leicestershire residents the opportunity to receive a £30 refund when they buy Real Nappies. You can download the cash back application form in PDF format and return it by post. This scheme is for Leicestershire residents only (unfortunately Leicester City residents cannot apply).


SELLERS:


If you would like to sell items in the sale then you MUST pre-register even if you have sold at previous sales - register by sending an e-mail to abcnctnearlynew@googlemail.com or by texting or phoning 07594 566544 the following information :

  • Full name, this must be the same name that you will use on your labels.
  • Full address including postcode.
  • Contact phone number preferably mobile so we can text updates to you.
  • Are you a new or regular seller?
  • Would you be able to volunteer to help ? see below for list of jobs
  • Would you be able to bring a cake to sell with the tea's & coffees?
  • How did you hear about the Nearly New Sale? 

You will be issued with a registration number and a registration pack and 3 posters to distribute in your local area.  Note when pricing up items please use a minimum selling price of 50p and price in mulitples of 50p ie. £0.50, £1.00, £1.50, £2,00, £2.50, £3.00 etc....  There will be an additional £3.00 admin fee for all the sellers who  fail to pre-register by the given deadline of Friday 20th February for the Burton sale and Friday 1st May 2009 for the Moira sale. 

Quality checks will be carried out on all items to ensure that the sale items are of NEARLY NEW condition.  All sub-standard items will be removed from the sale prior to doors opening.

All sellers should drop off their clearly labeled items between 8.15 am and 9.45 am on the day of the sale.  At 10.00 am everyone who is not a pre-registered volunteer will be asked to leave the hall so that health and safety and quality checks can be carried out.

10.15 - 10.30 current NCT members* and pre-registered volunteers** may browse. 

Doors open at 10.30 to the general public

All sellers should return between 1.30 pm  and 2.00 pm to collect any of their items which have been unsold.  Uncollected items will be donated to the NCT for disposal.

VOLUNTEERS

** Volunteers must register with the organiser by Friday 20th February (Burton sale) or Friday May 1st to qualify to browse from 10.15 am - 10.30 am.  Please register by e-mailing abcnctnearlynew@googlemail.com or phoning 07594 566544 with your name, address, e-mail and contact phone number.  We will e-mail you a list of available roles (SEE BELOW FOR THE FULL LIST)  and you can indicate your first & second choice.

CAKES

We offer refreshments on the day so all donations of caskes would be most gratefully received. 

WHAT YOU CAN SELL

Nearly new babies, childrens under fives and maternity clothes, toys and equipment.  All items should be in good condition.  Quality checks will be carried out and sub-standard items removed.  Clothes should be washed and ironed and on hangers if possible.  Sort clothes into age groups.  Please bag up all toys with parts and tape up boxes of games and jigsaws.  Make sure all toys and equipment are clean.  Put all toys with small parts in clear bags and seal well. 

Please DO NOT bring the following items - we are legally NOT allowed to sell: mattresses, baby bouncers, baby walkers, breast pumps, protective helmets, mains powered electrical items, car seats except booster seats, 3 in 1 pram systems can be sold but the car seat will be technically given away 'free' and labelled as such, as we are not allowed to sell them and hand knitted toys. 

PRICING

You, the seller decide the price for each item.  Please use multiples of £0.50p.  Overpriced items will not sell.  Bag up several cheaper items together. Smaller items should be bundled together in packs of four or five.  Large items such as travel cots amd strollers should generally be priced at least 50% less than they cost new.

MONEY

All sellers are asked to provide an C5 or A4 addressed envelope, with a LARGE stamp.  The money from the sales less 30% commission to the NCT and a £1.50 admin fee and your labels will be sent to you by cheque after the event.  An additional £3.00 admin fee will be charged to all sellers who register after the 20th February (Burton sale) or 1st May (Moira sale) 2009.

LABELLING

Before the event, you, the seller should

  • Label up and price each item in multiples of 50p only
  • On the label should be: Full name and registration number, brief description of the item and its size, the price and whether you want it to be returned or donated to charity if it doesn't sell
  • Labels should be reasonably sturdy, strong paper or thin cardboard is ideal.
  • Please, please do not use glue, parcel tape or masking tape to attach the labels.
  • Labels MUST be attached securely to garments by sewing or safety pin.  No ordinary pins or sellotape please.  Use clear magic tape or string on larger items
  • It is the sellers responsibility to ensure labels are attached securely, but bear in my mind that they also need to be removed easily at the tills.
  • All items with lost labels are withdrawn from the sale for collection at the end
  • DISCLAIMER : The committee reserves the right to refuse to sell items considered unsafe or unsuitable.  The committee cannot accept responsisiblity for items lost or damaged during the sale.

WHEELED CHILD CONVEYANCES

Prams and pushchairs must satisfy the following requirements:

  • They must be permanently marked with BS 7409: 1996 together with the name/trademark of the manufacturer or importer.
  • There must be a permanent notice on the vehicle stating the following: "Children must be harnessed at all times and never left unattended.  The child must be clear of all moving parts while making adjustments.  This vehicle requires regular maintenance by the user. Overloading, incorrect folding and use of unapproved accessories may damage or break the vehicle. Read the instructions"
  • Instructions must be supplied with each vehicle - marked "Important. Keep for future reference"
  • Instructions should cover the assembly, use and maintenance of the vehicle.

VOLUNTEERS JOBS

We have several teams  - join one of them and take part, 

1.  Pre-sale: Marketing the nearly new sale :  Arranging the printing out posters advertising the sale and arranging distribution of the posters.  Ensuring that all areas are covered and general promotion and publicity of the sale.

2.  Pre-sale: Friday set-up : Meet at the hall on the evening preceding the sale and help put up the clothes rails and organise the sale area and bags. 

3.  Pre-sale administration:  Ensure the stationery box is fully stocked and that we have name badges for everyone, sold stickers, blue tac, tape, all general admin jobs.  

4.  Catering management & raffle : Teas coffees juices and cakes.  Organise cake donations, raffle tickets and prizes

5.  Pre-sale: Sellers registration : Handle sellers enquiries by post, phone or e-mail.  send out pre-registration packs to every seller. 

6.  Pre-Sale: Sponsorship and other supplier advertising :  The sale is sponsored by a few businesses, these companies display their leaflets at the tills and have leaflets put in the sale bags. 

7.  Nearly New Sale : Volunteer to do a job on the day itself, this could be tills, sorting labels, inputting labels, helping sellers put out ther items, selling teas & coffee, handing out bags on the door, sorting and tidying, raffle, helping customers with larger items and many more.  Volunteers are needed from 9.00 a.m.- 2.00 p.m. please volunteer for a minimum of one hour up to a maximum five hours within this time. 

8. Clear up : Come along at 2 p.m help us dismantle the rails and clean up the hall and possibly transport the rails to storage.
