Run by local parents, we offer support, information and friendship to new parents and parents-to-be.

The NCT is a charity that aims to help all new parents have a life enriching experience of pregnancy, birth & early parenting. Nobody is excluded from antenatal classes because they cannot pay the fee. Please contact us in confidence if you wish to discuss a reduction in fees or spread the cost.

The branch now has sets of washable nappies to lend out to parents, so you can try them in your own home. The nappies are Motherease One Size reusable nappy : One Size Natural Unbleached Starter pack & Tots Bots Bamboozle Multi Pack - Rainbow Bamboozle with Aplix Size 1 These will be spilt into 2 or 3 packs depending on demand, but will give you a good chance to try reusable nappies without the normal hindrance of cost, as the service will be free to members, but a deposit by cheque will be required – this will never be cashed, just held onto. All of the nappies we have are available to purchase from the NCT sales website, so will not be hard to obtain if you decide you like them.

You can also ask for advice if you have any problems using the nappies as Toby, the person running this service has 2 children, both of whom have grown up with re-usable nappies, so whilst not an expert, certainly knows what he is talking about!

We have various sling and baby carriers to loan out including woven wraps, stretch wraps, ring slings, mei tais and pouches. The loan service is a free service requiring a fully returnable deposit. The normal loan period of one month, an ideal time to try babywearing or hire a carrier to make an upcoming holiday easier.
