Courses for parents-to-be

Led by qualified NCT antenatal teachers, our antenatal classes are renowned throughout the UK for providing parents with reliable information and choice.

I want to praise my NCT teacher Francis - she is an absolutely brilliant teacher, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and kind and lovely. I met an incredible group of mums at her class last January and we all got a huge amount of info and reassurance from her classes, as well as some lifetime friends. Long may Francis continue with her classes - she is the best! The classes are invaluable and I hope that many future mums will be lucky enough to benefit from having Francis or any of her compatriots as their teacher.

Classes are small and informal. Everyone in the class will be expecting their babies around the same time. This creates a wonderful environment of shared experiences where many people make lifelong friends.

Each NCT Antenatal Course provides evidence-based information, backed by more than 50 years of NCT experience. They give you the opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions about your labour and your baby’s birth.

Topics covered include:

  • What is happening to your body during pregnancy
  • Preparing for labour and birth
  • Giving parents-to-be the opportunity to explore this life-change in context to their past and their future
  • Assessing information in light of your personal needs and cultural context.

Most NCT antenatal courses include a session with a qualified breastfeeding counsellor. These friendly, practical sessions look at life with a new baby including breastfeeding and feeding choices.
