Wimbledon and Wandsworth NCT Antenatal Couples Courses are designed to facilitate and discuss most all aspects of labour, birth and the early days of caring for a newborn.  Classes are interactive and discussion based (as opposed to lecture style) to incorporate you and your partners existing knowledge and experiences.  
 
Topics usually include:

• The Structure of Labour (the stages)
• Strategies for dealing with contractions (incl both natural and pharmacological pain mgmt)
• The physicality of normal labour (mum and baby positions, pelvic floor, breathing)
• Adapting the the birth environment
• Highlighting the role of the birth partner
• Relaxation techniques (incl massage)
• Assisted deliveries and caesarean births
• Care for the mum during pregnancy, labour and after the birth
• Preparing, feeding and caring for life with your new baby
  
  
  Teachers also endeavour to include topics and hospital information relevant to the local area or in the press. 
  
  Our over-riding goal at the NCT is to improve the experience of labour, birth and the early days of a newborn for all parents.  We endeavour to make classes the start of that improvement.
