Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can or your previous experience and skills. It is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT. Get in touch and get involved.

Branch Secretary

The Branch Secretary is:

• The administrator for the branch team, working closely with the Branch Coordinator/Chair
• The volunteer coordinator for the branch, ensuring the regisitration of volunteers is kept up to date

A Successful Branch Secretary assits the Coordinator in knowing what branches are expected to do, planning and organising meetings, and in recruiting/retiaing members and supporting volunteers.

Joint Newsletter Editor

• able to gather together a team to produce a local branch newsletter – this may include an advertising coordinator, feature writers, diary coordinator, designers, photographers and illustrators
• able to edit copy and consider layout to put together an interesting and useful publication for branch members and as a promotional tool.

A successful Newsletter Editor is confident, persuasive and creative, making the branch newsletter an interesting mix of local and charity wide stories, information and advertising relevant to the readership. Being the Newsletter Editor may be challenging at times, but it is fun, interesting and worthwhile. Access to MS Publisher is an advantage but not essential.

Bumps & Babies Coordinator

Set up the rota quarterly to ensure hosts are available to run the weekly Bumps & Babies sessions and to just check it's all running ok from time to time!

Social/Diary Coordinator

The NCT is rightly proud of its reputation for helping parent-to-be and new parents get together and make friends.

The Branch Social/Diary Coordinator:

• Liaises with members/volunteers to produce a local diary of enjoyable activities where parents can meet for friendship, mutual support.

A successful Social/Diary Coordinator will be friendly, persuasive and well organised and will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping parents make lifelong friendships

Fundraising Coordinator

Branch fundraising is a hugely valuable role.  By raising money for the NCT you are helping your branch to reach scores, hundreds or even thousands of parents locally, and helping the charity as a whole to support over a million parents every year.

The Fundraising Coordinator:

• helps the branch to raise as much money as possible for local NCT services to parents and the wider work of the charity
• is a positive, motivational organiser and delegator
• has an overview of all the branch’s income, from grants, events and commercial support, working closely with the treasurer

Grant Fundraising Coordinator

The Grant Fundraising Coordinator:

works across the branch to help plan and fund valuable support and projects for local parents and parents-to-be
researches potential funding bodies for projects
writes, or assists others to write, applications for grant funding

This immensely valuable role gets lots of support from the UK Office Fundraising Team – successful applications bring in considerable sums of money to assist the charity in its work for parents, so you will know you are really helping others

Nearly New Sales Coordinator

NCT Nearly New Sales (NNSs) raise essential funds for the NCT and provide a valuable service to local parents and parents to be.  By raising money for the NCT, you are helping your branch to reach scores, hundreds or even thousands of parents locally, and helping the charity as a whole to support over a million parents every year. 

The NNS Coordinator is:

• the leader of the NNS team
• a positive, motivational organiser and delegator of and to the volunteers involved in each NNS
• plans each NNS so they raise as much money for the charity and help as many local parents as possible

General Team Members  

Nearly New Sale Team Members

Help with pre-sale publicity, bag-stuffing, cake making and on the day if possible

Editorial team

Supports the editor by sourcing or writing articles.

Bumps & Babies volunteers

We need a volunteer to be at B&B every week to welcome people, introduce anyone who comes on their own to others and be able to point people in the right direction for further help should they need it. With enough volunteers on the rota, each person should only have to take a turn once every other month.
