The aim for NCT Yoga for Pregnancy classes is for women to have an enjoyable and relaxing time, improving their physical and emotional well-being and increasing chances of a positive birth experience. All the postures are very gentle, specifically designed for women to attend throughout their pregnancy. Women come to the classes for many reasons including to:
- Increase flexibility
- Relieve pregnancy aches and pains
- Meet other pregnant mums
- Learn 'The Breathing' for labour
- Practise relaxation techniques
- Feel energised, positive and inspired about their pregnancy and birth
- Have some relaxing time-out with their baby.
As well as over an hour of relaxation, breathing and stretching exercises there will be different topics covered each week, including positions for labour, breastfeeding, optimal foetal positioning, avoiding perineal damage and many others. A few weeks after giving birth, each mother is encouraged to come back to the class during the last 20 minutes to tell her labour story.
Classes are £10.00 each and there is a discount policy for those on low income.
If you are interested in the NCT Yoga for Pregnancy classes and would like to book then please contact us or contact the teacher, Virginia, directly on nct@campbells79.freeserve.co.uk or call 01730 823 264.
Our antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors and postnatal leaders undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers, counsellors and leaders are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year. Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
