B.A.B.I.E.S

Happy New Year from Jane and Jennie!

B.A.B.I.E.S (Babies And Breastfeeding, Information, Encouragement, Support) meets every Wednesday morning at the Lanterns Children's Centre on Bereweeke Road.

An invaluable service, B.A.B.I.E.S (which is featured on the DVD attached to the 2008 summer edition of NCT magazine Bumps and  Babies) provides free breastfeeding support and help to all new mothers in the Winchester and District area. Held in a modern and comfortable environment, support is provided from trained NCT breastfeeding counsellors, Jane and Jennie.

This is a free service which is currently funded by a fundraising team and personal donations.(For more information about the fundraising team please contact Jane or Jennie at bfcounsellors@winchester-nct.org.uk). An awards for All Lottery grant, supported the service from May 2007 until May 2008. Future funding is currently being sought to enable the service to continue,(see the Hampshire Chronicle, page 2, July 3rd 2008.) Donations are always welcome and can be given to Jane or Jennie at a session. We're pleased to say that most of the mothers that use the service have been generous enough to donate towards the costs involved and these donations have been used to purchase more breastfeeding pillows, leaflets etc.

B.A.B.I.E.S is open between 9.30am and 12.00pm on a Wednesday mornings (no group on 24th and 31st December 2008).Open again 7th January 2009. It is not necessary to make an appointment. Just turn up! If you need to bring other children with you, of course they are welcome.

Our counsellors are fully trained and updated. They are not medically qualified, so please take any medical questions to your health professional.
