In response to the University of Sheffield and University of Dundee study which looked at offering mothers financial incentives to breastfeed, Head of campaigns and communications at NCT, Abigail Wood said:

“It’s important that women feel supported not pressurised to breastfeed and it’s good to see the mothers involved in this scheme appear to have had a positive experience.

“We know that most women want to breastfeed yet many stop because they don’t get the information and practical help they need. Four out of five women who stopped breastfeeding in the first six weeks after giving birth would have liked to continue for longer.

“NCT offers information and support to parents however they choose to feed their babies including through peer support, Baby Cafés, a breastfeeding counselling service, a helpline and information on our website: www.nct.org.uk. ”
