Responding to today’s Family Friendly Working and Low Income Families policy briefing by Family Friendly Working Scotland*, Elizabeth Duff, Senior Policy Adviser, NCT, said:
“Family friendly working should not just be the privilege of high income parents.
"The casual arrangements that parents make with their colleagues and managers to help them work flexibly aren’t unusual but employers should not be relying on the kindness of colleagues to cover their own shortcomings.
“Everyone benefits from family friendly working: employers, employees and the families of employees all do better. It's time now for employers to support their employees and let those on low incomes share in the family friendly working benefits."
