Voting opens Wednesday 18 September to elect two new Trustees, including the President

The roles of NCT President and Trustees are vital in ensuring that the charity is run effectively and acts in the best interests of all parents.

This year NCT members have two separate votes. One is to elect NCT's next President from two candidates, and the other will determine which of the further six candidates will join NCT's Board of Trustees for which there is one vacancy. Please note that the President is also a Trustee for the duration of their term as President.

Responsibilities of our Board

Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, a charity’s management and administration. The Charity Commission state that the main responsibilities of a trustee are to:

  • Ensure your charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
  • Comply with your charity's governing document and the law
  • Act in your charity's best interests
  • Manage your charity's resources responsibly
  • Act with reasonable care and skill
  • Ensure your charity is accountable.

You can find out more about the current trustee board here and read our Governance Handbook on babble here.

How do I read about the candidates and place my votes?

All NCT members will each receive a personal voting link from ‘Simply Voting’ by email when voting opens at 18:00 on 18 September, and then periodically throughout the election period until they cast their vote. On the Simply Voting website full details about candidates including their election statements will be available for review. Voting closes on Monday 4 November 2019 at 23.59.

If you are a current NCT member and have not received your voting link by email this may be because we don't have a valid email address registered for you. Please claim your vote by contacting our Enquiries team on 0300 330 0700 or at enquiries@nct.org.uk and updating your details. If you have recently joined NCT your voting link will be sent when the voting system next sends out a reminder email which will be done periodically throughout the election period.

Only NCT members can participate in our President and Trustee elections. You can sign up as a member and take part at any point during the online vote. If you would like to have a say in this year’s elections, see our membership options here.
