The NCT wants all breastfeeding mothers and babies to have a good experience.
But what if you need help? or are worried or confused about something?
You may find the help you need from friends or family, or from midwives or health visitors
You may come along to a drop in run by NCT breastfeeding counsellors which provide free breastfeeding support and help to all new mothers. NCT B.A.B.I.E.S. runs weekly on Friday mornings in central Basingstoke (see our B.A.B.I.E.S. page or download this poster for more details).
You may also choose to ring an NCT breastfeeding counsellor to talk over any concerns:
Our local breastfeeding counsellors take local calls as volunteers in their own homes. If they are not available you will be able to leave a message on an answering machine, they will aim to call you back within 24hrs - usually sooner.
Fiona – 07452 983313
Mindy – 07769 040509
Sarah – 01256 321 890
Anne - 07515 821 851
If you need a more immediate response you can also call the national NCT Breastfeeding Helpline, between 8am and midnight, 7 days a week.
Breastfeeding Line – 0300 330 0700 (8.00 am - 12.00 midnight)
Our breastfeeding counsellors are mothers who have breastfed and have qualified with a university DipHE in Breastfeeding Counselling. They’ve learned to listen carefully and aim to understand your point of view. They don’t tell you what to do. In most breastfeeding situations they can give research-based information. They can talk through what’s important to you. Your conversations are free and confidential.
