Breastfeeding counsellors are all mothers who have breastfed their babies and who are fully trained and qualified. They know how worthwhile and enjoyable breastfeeding can be but are also aware of the help and support that many new mothers need.
Breastfeeding isn't always easy and many mothers are taken by surprise if they run into difficulties. A Breastfeeding Counsellor will help women to overcome concerns, whether large or small, to feel comfortable with breastfeeding. She will be there to listen to any mother who wants to contact her with any queries or difficulties, offering mother-to-mother support, information and counselling where appropriate. Her role is to help build a breastfeeding mother's confidence in her own ability to cope and to help her to make her own decisions to reach her feeding goals, with the benefit of evidence-based information.
The Bath & District NCT has an experienced and qualified Volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor.

We have very limited space at the Percy Community Centre. If you would like to help the Bath & District NCT set up a Toddler group in Bath, please contact our current Branch Volunteers or your Antenatal Teacher/Breastfeeding Counsellor.
Please consider making a donation to the branch if you have received support from a Breastfeeding Counsellor. To see a Lactation Consultant usually costs £30-£40 per hour. . Our Volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellors will support women for FREE. All money raised enables us to go on further training courses
