When you need an electric breast pump, our volunteers can help you.
Why might I need to use an electric breastpump?
If you choose to breastfeed your baby, using an electric breastpump can be helpful in a variety of situations.
Using an electric breastpump can:
- Give you a break while partners or other family members help with feeding.
- Enable you to leave breastmilk for your baby if you need to be away from them for a period of time.
- Allow you to provide breastmilk to be given in Special Care or Neonatal Intensive care if your baby needs extra care after birth.
- Give you the reassurance if you are returning to work that your baby can still receive optimum nutrition from your expressed breastmilk.
Wouldn't a manual pump or hand expressing work just as well?
Hand expressing or using a manual pump is one option although research suggests that mothers who use an electric breastpump appear to be able to express greater volumes of breastmilk compared to hand expressing1. Simultaneous pumping is another benefit of our dual electric breastpumps, it's possible to express from both breasts at the same time.
Which electric breastpump can I hire?
NCT Breastpump Agents work through ARDO. In our branch we hire the ARDO Elite. The Elite is a traditional Hospital grade double electric breast pump. The combination of its independently adjustable vacuum levels and cycle speeds enables mum's to simulate baby's nursing pattern and create effective stimulaltion at her own personal comfort.
All PumpSets incorporate VacuuSeal Technology , a closed collection system which is 100%effective against contamination. ARDO is WHO (World Health Organisation) compliant and strongly promotes breastfeeding.
