NCT Courses and Covid-19

Until the end of October 2020 our courses are online, not in person, due to the UK’s social distancing measures, particularly the inclusion of pregnant women in a ‘vulnerable group’ advised to avoid social contact.

We know how much you value our in-person courses so we’re keeping our options open for courses from November 2020 onwards. Currently you can still book these as in-person classes but we’ll only bring people back together in venues once it is safe to do so. We’ll never put you, your baby or your family at risk. Read our course FAQs and Covid-19 pregnancy and birth information.

Our Covid-19 Price Promise: If you book a course that is already being delivered online you’ll receive a 15% discount at the time of booking. If you book a course that is currently offered as in-person, we’ll give you back 15% of your course fee if we need to move it online to ensure your safety.

Fiona is currently a student NCT doula. An important part of training for this role is that Fiona is required to support a woman or couple through birth with the support of the NCT doula tutors. Your baby needs to be due between the end of February and mid-April 2019 for you to be able to consider asking Fiona to be your birth doula. The fee for Fiona to support you has been appropriately set to recognise the fact that she is a student.

About Fiona

Fiona is a mother of four children, the first two were born at home in water and the twins were induced in hospital so she has a variety of personal experience to draw upon.

Fiona is open, fun and non-judgemental and recognises how important it is to have continuity of care and support in pregnancy and birth.

As a student Doula Fiona would like to support families to have positive empowering births by really getting to know you and what is important to you whether it be a vaginal or caesarean birth. Using birth skills such as massage to encourage relaxation, active birth positions to support the baby’s journey through the pelvis, hypno birthing for strength and positivity and long slow breathing to de-stress.

Fiona thinks that the immediate postnatal period is the foundations on which your family will be built so she will spend time with you listening and guiding so that you are able to start this new journey as parents feeling knowledgeable and able to trust your instincts.

Testimonials

“Fiona was my NCT teacher and I thought she was terrific. She emphasises that there is no one way to do things and different options work for different parents / babies. I love her no-nonsense approach and the care she’s provided since josh has been born.”

- Marie Anne and Baby Joshua

“Support from Fiona brings together the perfect mix of incredible knowledge, genuine care and a great sense of humour! By the time it came to giving birth my fear had been transformed and I was actually looking forward to it (it did hurt but it was also amazing) and the support doesn’t stop once the baby arrives. Its so reassuring to know that Fiona is there to answer any questions that emerge as I navigate this new and amazing role. She is also great at helping you build a local network of other new mums you can lean on for support, company and fun!”

- Helen and Baby Joe

“Fiona is a wonderful teacher and a kind and generous supporter postnatally. She is very knowledgeable, approachable, funny but best of all genuine and kind. “
