NCT Courses and Covid-19

Covid-19 price promise: If some or all of your course takes place online due to Covid-19, we promise to give you a course price discount related to how much of the course is online.

Courses until the end of May 2021 are online to bring you local, fully interactive and inclusive courses when Covid-19 infection rates are high and official guidance for pregnant women remains in place – a decision supported by the Royal College of Midwives.

"Antenatal classes can be incredibly helpful in preparing for childbirth and parenthood – and for meeting and sharing experiences with other parents-to-be. Online classes, like those offered by NCT, are the safest and most practical option currently and still offer those opportunities, even if the experience is different to getting together in person."

- Royal College of Midwives

We are taking decisions on whether courses from June 2021 onwards will be delivered online or in-person on a month-by month-basis.  We are updating course information on our website and contacting you if have booked a course place explaining why, so you know how your course will run 6-10 weeks before it begins.

How we make decisions about the delivery of NCT courses

As the UK’s largest parenting charity and leader in the field of antenatal education, we make informed decisions with full consideration to the current and any (confirmed) future UK government restrictions and official guidance and the most reliable research findings and data regarding pregnancy and Covid-19.

We also consult closely with our colleagues at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and Royal College of Midwives (RCM).

It’s our charitable mission to support all parents to have the most positive experiences of pregnancy, birth and the early days, so we will:

  • act promptly and transparently, informing you how and why your course will be delivered as early as practically possible.
  • always make decisions that offer the best experiences available whilst protecting you, our parents, your babies and our NCT course leaders.

About

Natalie is passionate about birth and in supporting families to have a positive birth experience. Natalie works in North, North-west, North-east and Central London. She lives in Ally Pally with her husband and two children.

Every woman and birth is unique. Natalie puts the women and families she works with at the heart of what she does. She will give time to build a relationship with you and your partner (if you have one) and learn about your hopes, fears and beliefs around birth, so that the doula care she provides meets your individual needs. This includes helping you to explore your options and supporting you to make informed decisions about your maternity care.

Natalie works to inspire confidence in and bring forth a woman’s own, innate ability to birth her baby(ies). She aims to foster good communication between you and health professionals, supporting you to be your own advocate. She will help to create an environment conducive to birth whether you’re at home, in a birth centre or labour ward and she will nurture you and your partner on your journey to and through birth. Natalie will come to you in labour when you feel you need her and will then be a constant companion, giving reassurance and practical, emotional and physical support. Natalie seeks to enhance the role of birth partners and to complement the work of midwives and doctors.

Having benefitted from doulas for the births of her own children, Natalie knows first hand the value of support from a known and trusted female companion at this momentous time. By booking Natalie as your doula you can approach birth feeling confident.

Testimonials

"Choosing Natalie was easily the best decision we made during our entire pregnancy. She is one of the calmest, most reassuring people I've ever met and made our pregnancy and birth a really positive and even enjoyable experience. She managed us both without us realising that she was doing so, which kept us focused and meant that we had a very calm and loving birth. We can't wait to book her in for our second pregnancy!"

- Alice and Ed, parents of Lola

"It was so helpful to be in touch before the birth about questions that came up along the way and to ask you about resources. It felt good to explore all the options and to make my decisions. It was very empowering! Your support, understanding and encouragement transformed my birth experience. I began the journey terrified of birth and feeling incredibly disempowered. On the day itself, I felt calm, ready and positive. What a huge difference! I think the calmness and positivity really helped labour progress. Having you there made a world of difference. I remember reading in a book that a doula can help reduce the chances of intervention dramatically and I wholeheartedly agree!!  We both feel so privileged to have had you as our doula. Thank you Natalie!!"

- Janice and Richard, parents of Cameron

"We’re delighted we chose to have you as our doula. The birth of our baby was a beautiful and moving event. I believe a lot of the credit for that is to you. You are knowledgeable and in my opinion had a role of so much more than “emotional support”. You answered to our questions, both in the meetings before and in the process of birth in a way that was insightful, but also emotionally inclusive …we’re very thankful for all that you have done for us. We were lucky to have you with us in one of the most important moments in our lives."

- Mike and Penny, parents of Max

"We really couldn’t be anymore grateful and aware of how important Natalie’s role was in the birth of our daughter. Without Natalie, the birth would have certainly been very different - it would have been a lot more stressful and unknown…thank goodness for Natalie and her work as a doula!"

- Leo and Frankie, parents of Lola
