NCT Courses and Covid-19

Until the end of February 2021 our courses are online. Currently, due to rising Covid-19 infection rates and official guidance for pregnant women, online is the only way we can safely and practically deliver local, fully interactive and inclusive courses – a decision supported by the Royal College of Midwives.

We know how much you value our in-person courses so we’re keeping our options open for courses from March 2021 onwards. Currently you can still book these as in-person classes but we’ll only bring people back together in venues once it is safe to do so. We’ll never put you, your baby or your family at risk.

To understand more about why we're delivering our courses online please read our course FAQs. Our website also has an up-to-date section on Covid-19 pregnancy and birth information.

Our Covid-19 Price Promise: If you book a course that is already being delivered online you’ll receive a 15% discount at the time of booking. If you book a course that is currently offered as in-person, we’ll give you back 15% of your course fee if we need to move it online to ensure your safety.

Rhiannon is currently a student NCT doula. She lives in a village just outside of Peterborough with her husband and her two daughters.

Would you like Rhiannon to be your doula?

About Rhiannon

Rhiannon’s own birth experiences were very different, the first being a breech birth born by Caesarean section, and the second being a vaginal birth. It was the positive care and support that she received from her midwife on her second birth that brought her to train with the NCT.

Rhiannon will support you in your chosen birth, be that at home or a hospital birth, within a 20-mile radius of her home.
Rhiannon is passionate about supporting women throughout their pregnancy, labour and beyond and believes it is vital to create a warm, calm and relaxed birthing environment. Having such an environment can enable the body to produce vital hormones such as oxytocin and goes on to enable women to achieve a positive birth experience. Rhiannon will also offer massage and relaxation techniques and will assist the mother in exploring different birthing positions to help aid comfort and creating optimum space for the baby in the birth process.
Rhiannon also greatly values the role of the birth partner and the importance of ensuring that both the mother and birth partner feel supported and prepared. She does this by meeting both their physical and emotional needs whilst being mindful not to take over. Should the mother have made the decision to not have a birth partner, Rhiannon is happy to fulfil this role.
There is growing evidence that receiving continuous, responsive and compassionate care that is free from judgement, can be both comforting and empowering for the parents. Rhiannon aims to provide this for the parents she supports.

Rhiannon has a warm and nurturing personality, is well organised and has an excellent sense of humour. She hopes that by working closely with you she can help you to achieve the birth experience that you wish for.

An important part of training for this role is that Rhiannon is required to support a woman or couple through birth with the support of the NCT doula tutors. Your baby needs to be due between the end of February and mid-April 2021 for you to be able to consider asking Rhiannon to be your birth doula. The fee for Rhiannon to support you has been appropriately set to recognise the fact that she is a student.
