NCT Courses and Covid-19

Until the end of November 2020 our courses are online, not in person, due to the UK’s social distancing measures, particularly the inclusion of pregnant women in a ‘vulnerable group’ advised to avoid social contact.

We know how much you value our in-person courses so we’re keeping our options open for courses from December 2020 onwards. Currently you can still book these as in-person classes but we’ll only bring people back together in venues once it is safe to do so. We’ll never put you, your baby or your family at risk. Read our course FAQs and Covid-19 pregnancy and birth information.

Our Covid-19 Price Promise: If you book a course that is already being delivered online you’ll receive a 15% discount at the time of booking. If you book a course that is currently offered as in-person, we’ll give you back 15% of your course fee if we need to move it online to ensure your safety.

About Suzanne

Suzanne lives with her family in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex and is happy to support clients in a 30 mile radius across East and West Sussex as well as into Surrey. Suzanne has recently completed her doula training and her student birth, so will be available as a qualified doula to support births from August 2020 onwards* (scroll down to see what the parents said about Suzanne).

Suzanne experienced two very different births and is passionate about supporting parents to achieve the positive birth outcome that is important to them. She brings knowledge of the benefits of massage, positions, active labour, breathing, visualisation, birth environment and more, as well as experience of both caesarean birth and water birth. With particular awareness of the importance of emotional support for all during labour and birth, Suzanne knows how feeling cared for at this time by a trusted person can make such a difference.

She recognises the needs of both the mother and the birth partner and believes in the importance of support and empowerment for all. She is also keen to work with mothers who may be planning labour without a partner and understands the different dimensions this can bring to the experience.

Suzanne has also completed her training as an NCT antenatal teacher and a baby massage teacher.  She has worked in the field of healthcare and carried out observations both in a hospital and a birth centre environment and supported a home-birth.

She brings warmth, capability, compassion and understanding to help parents transition through labour and the birth to life with their new baby.

As part of the doula package you will have the opportunity to meet Suzanne, to get to know each other and so that she can understand your birth preferences and work with you on planning your birth.

Suzanne believes every birth is unique and whatever path it takes, each mother deserves to be listened to, understood and respected throughout on their journey to meet their baby. If you are considering hiring a doula or would like to chat to Suzanne please get in touch.

What the parents said...

Having Suzanne as a Doula gave me peace of mind that I would be supported through the birth.

The meetings with Suzanne before the birth gave me much needed headspace - setting time aside this way was such a help to practise techniques and think through scenarios.

Suzanne enabled me to stay relaxed and focused on labour.

Suzanne’s relaxing massages were such a gift and enabled me to manage strong surges during transition.

Suzanne encouraged me all the way, and the reflection from her after (on the day and a week later) helped me see the birth for the powerful event it was and for that I am so grateful

*Current covid restrictions may impact on the doula role in terms of support in later labour in some regions. Please do contact Suzanne to discuss this further, July 2020.
