Are you interested in meeting people, developing skills, working in a team, helping new parents? Do you have a background in admin, customer services, finance or accounting, IT or databases, copywriting, marketing, press and social media or the web? Or would you like to develop some of these skills? If so, there is definitely a role for you (and a friend as all the roles can be organised as job-shares).

Why don’t you come to our meeting on the evening of the 31 January to find out more?  This is a joint meeting with NCT Blackheath and NCT Lewisham Deptford.

Volunteering is fun, allows you to use your experience, gain new skills and make friends. And you have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping to make a difference to local parents.

Volunteer Helen says, "I started volunteering with the aim of meeting a few more local mums and ended up making some amazing friendships. Volunteering has also helped keep up my work skills and provided a huge amount of fun and laughter along the way. I had fantastic support through Bumps & Babies with plenty of like-minded people to chat with."

We are planning to hold a training day in June or July for London volunteers, so you’ll be able to attend training workshops and network with other branches to share ideas and good practice.

We hope therefore that you will join us on 31 January to find out more. Please let us know if you are attending so we can make sure we have enough refreshments. If you are unable to attend but would still like to help, please get in touch.

Branch restructure

Our Greenwich branch is one of the largest in the country and we know that smaller branches are more likely to be able to reach parents in their communities and make volunteering more enjoyable.

On the opposite end of the scale is Blackheath which is geographically the smallest in the country.  We also think that our current Lewisham Deptford branch is not quite right.

So we are looking to reshape three branches.

The proposed new branches would be:

  • Eltham covering SE3 (Blackheath), and SE9 (Eltham)
  • Greenwich & Deptford covering SE4 (Brockley), SE8 (Deptford), SE10 (Greenwich), and SE14 (New Cross)
  • Woolwich covering SE18 (Woolwich), SE2 (Abbey Wood), SE28 (Thamesmead), and SE7 (Charlton)

Frequently Asked Questions

The consultation has been running for over a month.  We have had some questions that we can respond to.

As an NCT supporter we value your opinion on this issue. You can access the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BFLQBPN. There will be a chance to discuss the restructure at the meeting on the 31 January. Remember to let us know you are attending.
