We are running a First Aid Course on Saturday 4 June 2016 in conjunction with the British Red Cross. There are two sessions, the morning session is from 10-12.30 and the afternoon session is from 2-4.30pm. The course costs £25 per person or £45 per couple. There are reduced rates for those on low income.
St John's Ambulance research shows:
- that around two thirds of parents would like more information on first aid.
- First aid is rated as one of the top skills parents wished they’d learnt before having a baby.
- Previous research shows around 70% of children will take a trip to A&E at some point.
Interested....here is an example of what you can learn.
First aid advice for burns is to cool the burn under cold running water for at least ten minutes. This reduces pain, swelling and the risk of scarring.
After the burn has cooled, cover it with cling film or a clean plastic bag. This helps prevent infection by keeping the area clean. Cling film or a plastic bag provide an ideal covering because they don’t stick to the burn and reduce pain by keeping air from the skin’s surface.
Finally call 999. Always seek medical advice for a baby or child that has been burned.
To make sure you are fully prepared on what to do in an emergency book onto our next course, spaces are filling up fast.
