The NCT recognises how important it is for parents to have basic first aid skills and the confidence to use them in an emergency. However rare it is for accidents to happen, it’s great to know you’re prepared to cope if you need to.
The course lasts for 2.5 hours, and the topics covered include:
• Unconscious baby and child (breathing or not breathing)
• Choking baby and child
• Raised temperature
Booking is essential. The cost is £25 per person and there is a discounted rate for couples of £40 (couples can choose to attend the same session or a different session on the same day). There are some concessionary places at £10 available, to qualifying attendees on a first-come-first-served basis.
Note: This course is open to members and non-members.
Concessionary rates are available for the following (please be aware that you will be asked to provide evidence of your entitlement to this reduced rate):
• Under 18s
• Students under 22 years of age
• Council tax benefit or housing benefit claimants
• Employment and support allowance recipients or working tax credit claimants
• Parents with a yearly household income of less than £15,000
Who should come to a Baby First Aid course?
The NCT Baby First Aid courses are suitable for parents, expectant parents and carers of babies and young children.
The course covers first aid techniques for babies (0-1yrs) and children (1-12yrs). Babies in arms are welcome to attend with adults - up to the age of 6 months.
